MEMORABILIA COMMITTEES

Memorabilia is the fun part of the rather serious business of genealogy research. It is the expansion of a name and a date to putting a face (photo) and a history (diary) with the rather inactive thought of a person. The identity of a person, their contribution to society, their personality and character are the person. Characterizing these exciting background issues of a person’s life is the goal of building a wealth of information called memorabilia.

Mission
Government and religious organizations throughout the world have through the ages been fastidious about keeping records. These documents are much of the history of our ancestors. They are the documentation that we rely on to relate our ancestors together. We often only find references in the genealogical records of our family. We would like to have copies of those records on our website for historical purposes as well as research clue finding.

Functions:

  1. Gather copies of Government Records: census, birth, death, marriage, ship, immigration, military (enlistment, service, pension), court, land, probate
  2. Gather copies of Religious: birth, christening, baptism, priesthood, marriage, death, bibles, cemetery

Publications Subcommittee

Mission
There are many publications that are available that include information about our ancestors. Many of us have copies, but many do not. There are those who don’t even know about the famous Hermoine Jex Red Books. Our intention is to make available on our website information in the publications section and then the ability to purchase copies through our on-line-store. Our organization has and will in the future publish key documents like the Red Books for our members. We want the publications committee to find among our members and friends the publications that we need the most.

Functions:

  1. Invite members to list for us publications that they have that a) are in current publication b) are out of circulation.
  2. Determine what out of circulation publications the organization should negotiate with the owner to publish.
  3. Create a process that will allow the society to earn income through the sale of publications on our website.
