24 Feb. 1869

A blessing given by John Smith, Patriarch, upon the head of Elizabeth Morris, daughter of John and Ellen Russell, born in Clackmannan, Scotland, July 2, 1831.

"Sister Elizabeth, in the name of Jesus Christ I lay my hands upon thy head and pronounce and seal a blessing upon thee, which shall be a comfort unto thee in time to come, and thou shall know thy lineage, therefore, prepare thy mind and look forward to the future that the visions of eternity may be unfolded to thy view and that you may comprehend the blessings the Lord hath in store for the faithful, for they are thus through obedience.

"Thou hast left they native land, for the gospel's sake, and traveled under adverse circumstances, and passed through trials for which thou shall receive thy reward, and thou shalt be crowned hereafter among the mothers in Israel, as thou are now numbered among the daughters of Zion, therefore, be of good faith and of good cheer, for the Lord knoweth the secrets of thy heart, he hath heard thy petitions, and thou shalt see better days, thou are of the blood of Joseph through the loins of Ephraim and entitled to the blessings of the Redeemer's kingdom, and of the New and Everlasting Covenant, and thou shalt be strengthened in thy body and mind and be equal unto the task before you, and be enabled to heal the sick of they family and through the prayer of faith thou shalt have power over the adversary and hold evil spirits at bay, and health and peace shall reign in thy habitation, and thy children shall grow up around thy table healthy and strong and be honorable in society.

"This blessing I seal upon thy head and I seal thee up unto eternal life, to come forth in the morning of the first resurrection. Even so Amen."
